Basic Requirements - All materials must meet these guidelines
- Residential: Must be intended for use in or have application in residential construction, improvement, or maintenance. Nothing labeled or specifically configured for industrial, professional, or commercial use only.
- Structural: Must be structurally sound to perform its intended use. Nothing broken, missing, worn-out, or otherwise ‘falling apart.’
- Functional: Must operate in a way so that it can perform its intended function. No disabling damage, nonfunctioning components, or in any way inoperable.
- Cosmetic: Must have an appearance acceptable to the general public to perform its intended use. This may include alterations, certain damage, excessive dirt or other visible lack of maintenance/upkeep, being ‘outdated’ and not ‘in demand,’ and the like.

New, unopened, and not expired. No “professional” or “industrial use only.”

Appliances
Stoves, Cooktops, Ovens, Microwaves, Washers, Dryers—10 years old or less, perfect working order needing no repair or parts, clean and ready to be used.
Refrigerators—same as above AND must be plugged in and cold at the time of pick up. Will be refused if not.
Dishwashers—5 years old or less, perfect working order needing no repair or parts, clean and ready to be used.
Trash Compactors— 10 years or less, perfect working order.
Water Softeners—absolutely none.
Handheld and Countertop—absolutely none.
Note: Any appliance found to be misrepresented will be rejected on site. If it cannot be tested on site and is found later to be misrepresented, the item may be returned to the donor and/or removed from our copy of the donation receipt.

Asphalt Products
In original packaging marked with either manufacture date or containing the words "no asbestos" OR written and signed statement required from the donor giving where and approximately when item was purchased new. MUST be manufactured after 1980. Asphalt products manufactured prior to 1980 will not be accepted.

Bath
Towel Bars, Soap Dishes, TP Holders, Toothbrush Holders—Complete with brackets and hardware, “fixed” only (no stand-alone ‘décor’ items), new only on porcelain items.
Handicap Grab Bars & Support Items—In good condition with all parts and accessories.
Bathtubs—Neutral colors only, “Off color” matching toilet/ sink sets considered; must be approved by manager upon visual inspection. Steel and Cast Iron —No chips in finish larger than a dime, no dents. Fiberglass—No cracks or broken edges, little to no discoloration. Claw foot—Acceptable in most any condition, within reason.
Toilets—Clean, no chips or cracks, neutral colors, must have bowl, tank, and tank lid.

Blinds
Venetian or “Mini”—no damage, reasonably clean, all parts, not tangled, neutral colors preferred.
Vertical — None.

Brick & Block
No pieces, no mortar, reasonably clean, neatly stacked and readily accessible to truck if collecting.

Cabinets:
Bases and Uppers—Must have all the doors and drawers, no damage, and fairly up to date. Metal ok only if no rust and in superb condition (well-maintained).
Doors— Single (No Cabinet) —Only new accepted.
Drawers— Single (No Cabinet) — None accepted.
Faces— only with matching cabinet set. Must include doors.
Medicine—All types, fairly up to date, no damage or rust, to include shelves.
Countertops—All materials, 4 feet long and longer. No size requirements if accompanies matching cabinet. No chips, cracks, or other damage.
Drawer Guides—Complete sets only, no damage or rust.
Cabinet Pulls and Hinges—No excessive wear or paint, complete with no missing pieces, nothing broken, must be boxed or sacked.

Caulk
New, unopened, and not expired. No “professional” or “industrial use only.”
Ceiling
Ceiling Fans— Working order with all parts, including hanging/ceiling box bracket, reasonably up to date. Please remove fan blade/arm combinations at the motor to prevent damage and sack or box, if possible, including the screws removed.
Ceiling Tile—All types; like new condition. No pieces, water damage, or other damage or deterioration. In original packaging marked with either manufacture date or containing the words "no asbestos" OR written and signed statement required from the donor giving where and approximately when item was purchased new. MUST be manufactured after 1980. Ceiling tiles products manufactured prior to 1980 will not be accepted.
Grid Pieces—Full lengths, no damage, no rust; white color only.

Chemicals
We DO NOT ACCEPT chemicals. This includes cleaning products, pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, rodenticides, fertilizers, and the like.
EXCEPTION: Limited household chemicals may be accepted from businesses only as long as original packaging is intact with consumer label and is not expired or being phased out per regulations. Must have MSDS sheet(s) and manager approval.

Cove Base, Vinyl
New only, full lengths or mostly full rolls. In original packaging marked with either manufacture date or containing the words "no asbestos" OR written and signed statement required from the donor giving where and approximately when item was purchased new. MUST be manufactured after 1980. Vinyl cove base products manufactured prior to 1980 will not be accepted

Doors
Wooden—No rotten or broken spots, no holes, no disfiguration/alteration.
Metal & Metal Clad—No dents, no rust. For solid metal doors, must be 36 inches or less with no blank/empty window cut-outs.
With Windows—No broken glass, no broken seals on double-paned glass.
Patio Doors—Excellent to good shape, with full frame, no broken seals on double-paned glass.
Storm— Operable and must include the hinge piece, screen, and window. Top and side frame pieces highly encouraged, but not required.
Shower—See “Shower.”
Screen—Complete, no rot or damage, prefer screen material to be intact, but some damage acceptable.
Garage—See “Garage Doors".
Commercial —with manager approval only.

Sheets —Useable ¼ sheet or larger, no irregular shapes. No water damage or mold.
Joint Compound (Mud) —New, unopened, and not expired.
Tape —Clean and dry, never damp. Partial rolls accepted.
Corner Bead —Full, undamaged sticks; if rolled, partial rolls accepted.

Electrical Supplies
Fairly up to date, no corrosion or rust, assorted is fine, boxed or sacked, no pieces (if kit, etc.), no commercial.
Light Fixtures—Not excessively worn, nothing broken, fully functioning, protected for transport.

Fasteners
Nails—Sorted by type and size, boxed or sacked, no rust. If not in original packaging, must be 1 pound worth or greater.
Screws—Sorted by type and size, boxed or sacked, no rust. If not in original packaging, must be 1 pound worth or greater. Top
Fencing
Chain Link Fabric, Gates, & Top Rail—Good condition, little damage or rust.
Wooden—In panels, any height, little rot or deterioration, good structural condition.
Vinyl—Full pieces or panels only, no damage.
All Posts—Structurally sound, unbent, clean with no concrete attached.
All Other Fence Material—Chicken wire, snow fence, etc. are acceptable. No rust, major tears, or other damage.

Fireplaces & Accessories
Fireplace Inserts—Good condition with all parts, well-maintained, relatively clean.
Fireplaces, Stand-Alone— Good condition with all parts, well-maintained, relatively clean with good cosmetic appearance.
Fronts and Doors—Complete, no rust or damage, relatively clean, fully functional.
Tools—individual or in sets, good condition.
Gas Logs—Working order, relatively clean.
Wood Cradles, Etc.—Undamaged with no rust.

Flooring
Carpet—Room size and larger (10’x10’+); no stains or odors (pet or otherwise); no discolored or ‘brittle backing,’ questionable if over 8 years; must be rolled and accessible for collection.
Note: Any roll of carpet found to be misrepresented will be rejected on site. If it cannot be inspected on site and is found later to be misrepresented, the item may be returned to the donor and/or removed from our copy of the donation receipt.
Wood—All types, useable lengths (1 ft. or more), no nails, rot, or other damage. If tongue and groove, ‘tongues’ and ‘grooves’ must be intact.
Parquet—Full pieces, no rot or damage, boxed or sacked for handling.
Laminate—Full pieces, no rot or damage.
Vinyl, Rolled—New only, 6’ x 6’ and larger, no cracks or other damage. In original packaging marked with either manufacture date or containing the words "no asbestos" OR written and signed statement required from the donor giving where and approximately when item was purchased new. MUST be manufactured after 1980. Vinyl products manufactured prior to 1980 will not be accepted
Vinyl, Tiles—New only, both adhesive and non-adhesive, full pieces, boxed or sacked for handling. In original packaging marked with either manufacture date or containing the words "no asbestos" OR written and signed statement required from the donor giving where and approximately when item was purchased new. MUST be manufactured after 1980. Vinyl products manufactured prior to 1980 will not be accepted

Only patio furniture accepted, like found at hardware stores. See Patio Furniture. No interior furniture accepted. Contact United Way at 211 for a referral.

Garage Doors and Accessories
Wooden & Metal Doors—All panels, no damage, rust, or rot, fully functional; if glass, no broken panes.
Tracks, Springs, Cables,
Rollers, Hinges, Etc
—in good repair, minimal rust.
Electric Openers—10 years old or less, perfect working order needing no repair or parts. To include all parts, including remotes if applicable.

Mirrors—In good condition with no chips, cracks, or discoloration. No mirrors larger than one person can handle safely, such as ones over a double vanity.

Door Locks and Knobs—fully functional with all parts, no excessive wear, scratches, or paint, packaged/sacked individually.
Hinges—all types, must have all parts, unpainted, no rust.
Miscellaneous—should be specifically sorted and boxed/sacked, clean, operable, no rust.

Furnaces—Gas or electric, 5 years old or less, perfect working order needing no repair or parts, inner workings not rusty, well-maintained.
Air Conditioners (Central Outdoor Unit)—10 years old or less, perfect working order needing no repair or parts, well-maintained, preferably with matching evaporator (A-coil) if separate unit from the unit.
Evaporators (A-Coils)—10 years old or less, little rust or corrosion, preferably with the matching condenser unit.
Air Conditioners (Window)—10 years old or less, perfect working order needing no repair or parts, well-maintained.
Duct—All types; 2’ sections and longer, little rust or corrosion.
Duct Fittings—All types, little rust or corrosion.
Vents/Covers—No rust.

Insulation
Backed & Unbacked— new or like new, clean and never damp, rolled, bound, or otherwise contained for transport if pick up
Blown—New only, in original packaging.
Sheet—New or like new, ¼ sheet or larger, clean with no holes or damage.

Light Fixtures
Not excessively worn, nothing broken, fully functional, protected for transport. No light fixture with old cloth-insulated wiring, unless fixture has significant value to warrant rewiring.
Fluorescent Lights--Ballast label must state "no PCBs". Ballast must be exposed at time of pick up for inspection. No bulbs.
Fluorescent Light Bulbs--
Absolutely none. Donor to remove bulbs from fixture before pick up and referred to local disposal resource

Lumber
No nails, no rotten or deteriorated areas, not excessively weathered.
Dimensional—6 feet and longer.
Sheets— ¼ usable sheet and larger, no irregular shapes.
No railroad ties.
Shingles—In bundles preferably, stored in shelter, not ‘stuck together’, no scraps.
Trim —See Trim, Molding, and Millwork.

Paint
All Paint —Consumer labels intact and readable, no leaking, rusty, or damaged beyond use (lid must work) containers. Contents never frozen. Nothing labeled “Industrial Use Only” or “Professional Use Only.” Less than five years old.
No pick ups from individuals (drop off only).
Businesses must sign Charitable Donation Agreement: Paint and Potentially Hazardous Materials before pick up and include MSDS sheets, if available.
Quarts & Gallons —Containers must be full and meet the above requirements.
5 gallon Buckets —Containers must have at least one gallon and meet the above requirements.
Spray Paint —Container must be full, nozzle functions, and agitator ball rattles freely.
Miscellaneous— We DO NOT ACCEPT hazardous, caustic, acidic, flammable, or otherwise dangerous fluids, materials, or containers for these materials.

Patio Furniture
Tables, chairs, benches, swings, and umbrellas accepted. Little to no rust, well-maintained, sturdy; if plastic, not cracked or brittle.

Clean, assorted is fine, boxed or sacked, all pieces included (if kit, etc.). No fitted/glued pieces.

Wrought-Iron—All lengths, well-maintained with little rust or deterioration.

Small matching quantities accepted, bundle quantities preferred. Large donations must sort type and color by pallet or other recognizable means as much as possible. Stored in shelter, not ‘stuck together’, no scraps.

Kits—Sets/kits preferred (all panels, doors w/ frame, and base), but parts accepted as described below.
Bases— Must be relatively clean with no cracks or other damage.
Panel Sets—Full sets only, not damaged, no excessive discoloration, relatively clean.
Inserts—Not damaged, no excessive discoloration, relatively clean.
Shower Doors—Sliding or hinged, must have all parts including all tracks/frame, no broken glass or bent pieces. Must be relatively clean with no excessive soap scum (well maintained), no mold.

Wooden—interior or exterior, good shape with no damage, rot, or excess peeling.
Vinyl—good condition, no damage, brittleness, or heavy fading

Siding
Vinyl—full, undamaged pieces or accessories only.
Wooden/Hardboard—6’ long or longer for lengths, at least ½ sheet large for sheets/panels, full pieces for shake-type, no damage or rot.
Asbestos—None.
Concrete-Based--In original packaging marked with either manufacture date or containing the words "no asbestos" OR, written and signed statement required from the donor giving where and approximately when item was purchased new. MUST be manufactured after 1980. Siding products manufactured prior to 1980 will not be accepted.

Kitchen—normal wear and tear ok, no chips or deep scratches in finish.
Bathroom Wall Mount— None accepted at this time.
Bathroom Bowl— Only new cast iron; new or used porcelain, steel, or plastic ok.
Pedestal Sinks —New and used acceptable, neutral colors only. No chips, cracks, ‘spider veins’ in bowl, or excessive wear.
Vanity Tops, Single Bowl— New and used acceptable, single and double bowl, neutral colors only, nothing outdated (glitter swirls, etc.). No chips, cracks, ‘spider veins’ in bowl, or excessive wear.
Vanity Tops, Double Bowl—new only, unless accompanied by matching cabinet.
Mop Sinks—new or used, relatively clean.

Stone/Rock
Wall, veneer, and landscape stone all accepted. Must be relatively clean with little debris, litter, or mortar. Stone must be able to be handled by one person; small items like landscape rock must be in bag or bucket, large stone delivered or easily accessible to truck if pick up.

Swing Sets & Play Sets
Complete with all parts, including instructions or detailed photos of assembled item; no rot or rust; disassembled for transport if pick up.

Hand—construction or gardening; nothing broken, worn-out, or rusted; fully functional.
Power—less than 10 years generally, must have all parts, fully functional.
Gas-Powered —No pick up, drop off only. Fully functional, must demonstrate that it works.

Trim & Moulding—6 feet long and longer, no nails or screws, good cosmetic condition. Exception: Top door trim piece (<6 feet) is acceptable with both matching side pieces.
Handrail—6 feet long and longer,
no nails or screws,
no damage, rot, or excessive peeling paint.
Landing Posts and Spindles—undamaged
and unaltered , no nails or screws,
in good cosmetic condition.

Sealed in plastic, reasonably up to date, not discolored.

Windows
Single/Double-Hung, Slider, Casement/Awning, Fixed/Picture, & Architectural—single or double-paned, wooden, vinyl, or metal construction acceptable. Must have full frame, no rot, no broken glass or seals, fully operational.
Jalousie—None.
All complete storms, no matter color, allowed if accompanied by a matching window.
Sashes—double-paned preferred, single-paned accepted on a limited basis depending on need and condition. No broken glass or seals, no rot, etc. No casement (crank-out) sashes.
Glass Panes (Unframed Glass)— New in original shipping packaging only. No broken seals on double pane or triple pane glass. We do not possess the equipment to safely handle or sell unpackaged glass.
Glass Inserts for Storm Windows —None.
Screen Inserts for Storm Windows —None.
Screen Inserts for Windows —No wooden. Aluminum and vinyl framed acceptable. Must be complete and undamaged. No storm window screen inserts.
Storm, Aluminum—Complete with all pieces ONLY; glazed with a color is preferable, limited plain silver are acceptable. Must be fully-functioning, no broken glass or torn screens. Glass taped for transport is preferred.
Storm, Wooden—None.

Window Treatments
Venetian or “Mini” Blinds—no damage, reasonably clean, all parts, not tangled, neutral colors preferred.
Vertical Blinds—None.
Curtains, Drapes, Curtain Rods, Drapes, Traverse Rods, Valences— None at this time.
