Intro to Cans for Habitat KC Lists partner recycling centers and explains how the program works, including tips and statistics.
Anyone, any age can recycle and EVERY CAN makes a difference.
We figured out that if each person in the Kansas City metro recycles only 10 aluminum cans thru this program, we'll have enough money to build a new house for a family in need - that's all it takes!
Donating your cans is easy:
Bring them to the Habitat KC office during business hours, Tuesday - Saturday 8-4:30 (we have a dumpster in our parking lot but will need to unlock it). We also have a dumpster to collect paper products (magazines, newspapers, junk mail, school/office paper, etc. - just no phone books or corrugated cardboard)
Drop off your cans at one of our partner recycling centers in Kansas City. For information about how that works, where they are located, etc. please download the following PDF document.
NEW for Summer 2010! Bring your cans to our ReStore remote drop off sites at area Lowe's locations. ReStore trucks are out in Lowe's parking lots on Saturdays from 9 am - 2pm to accept donations of building materials, and now they'll also take your bags of cans to recycle for our program. For more information about what ReStore takes for donations, go to www.restorekc.org
Every Saturday - Lowe's of South KC, 133rd/State Line Rd
3rd Saturday of the month - Lowe's of Independence, Hwy 40 & Hwy 271
4th Saturday of the month - Lowe's of Lee's Summit, Chipman Rd.
Recycling Vendors where you can drop off your collected aluminum cans for Habitat KC
Do you want to help us make this program a HUGE success? Here are some opportunities to get involved:
We're looking for schools, churches, businesses, scout troops, families, etc. to collect aluminum cans for Habitat KC. We have bins and liners that you can have FREE to collect cans and then bring them to the collection site. Just email us with your information - how many bins you'd like, where and when you need them, etc. We can also help set up a service project or special event collection.
We're always looking for more partner recycling centers. If you know of one in your area that you'd like to see get on board, give us the information and we'll contact them!
We need volunteers that can pick up cans from our partners in Johnson County and take them to a recycling center. Hours and locations are flexible. Email to learn more.
