"I wish to make an earnest call to everyone, Christian and followers of other religions, to work together to build a world without violence, a world that loves life, and grows in justice and solidarity. God bless all who are building homes with Habitat for Humanity." - Pope John Paul II at World Youth Day 2002
Adopt a family The adopt a family program is a relational opportunity for churches to reach out to Habitat KC families. This program is great for people of all ages and can be tailored to your congregations abilities and schedule. Your church/faith organization will be paired up with a Habitat KC homeowner family and have an opportunity to connect with them from the time they are approved for the program until they move into their new Habitat home. For more information on how this program works, please contact us and download the following document. (Adobe reader required)
Build a House Work with Habitat for Humanity Kansas City to plan a project, or join one of our current opportunities with your financial contributions and/or volunteers. Sponsorships come in a variety of levels and volunteers don't need to be trained in construction - they simply have to be 16 years old or more and have a willingness to help. Faith related build projects might include the House of Abraham (interfaith build), Thrivent Builds (Lutheran), an Apostles Build (ecumenical Christian build) or a project like Christ Community Church's urban-suburban partnership.
Provide Volunteers Volunteer do SO many things with Habitat KC. You can prepare lunch for construction volunteers on a Saturday, schedule days to send work crews to the build sites, help with an event, do a food drive for our food pantry, serve on a committee, and more! Contact us to learn more.
Pray for Habitat for Humanity Pray specifically for the lives and communities touched by Habitat, both here in Kansas City and around the world. Families, volunteer, donors, and staff can use prayers for compassion, patience and the ability to work together focused on the mission of Habitat. Pray for our leaders, that they are hearing the needs of those living in poverty and work for positive change.
