Adopt a Family

"Valley View UMC has really enjoyed the Adopt a Family experience.  We adopted Gwen McNeely-Herring and her sons.  Her house was completed in July 06, and even though we got kind of a "late" start on the adoption process, I believe the church participated more in the building process than they have in years past.  We had a house warming shower for the family in July which was a huge success.  Gwen came to the November dinner and plans to come to the Christmas Cantata in December.  We would like to consider adopting another family..."

"Ward Parkway Presbyterian has been very pleased with the Adopt a Family program. Meeting and getting to know the Silvers family has really put a face of our work with Habitat.  We have invited Mrs. Silvers and her two grandchildren to several church events and consider her part of our church family.  We organized volunteers on 3 separate work days in order to contribute our full amount of sweat equity hours on her behalf.  Based on her hours and our contribution, Mrs. Silvers was assigned a lot to build upon in September.    
When we finish our planned events with Mrs. Silvers, we would certainly consider adopting another family..."
