Family Selection Committee

The committee has the responsibility of reviewing applications, recommending families to the board, and advising the board of any changes to the criteria as needed.   Some of the tasks of the committee are:

  • Review and revise the application process to insure that HFHKC is targeting families that will succeed in the program and as homeowners
  • Review applications - including financial records, credit reports, current housing situation, and applicants' housing needs
  • Conduct home visits with potential partner families
  • Select final candidates for HabitatKC partner families and make recommendations to the Board of Directors
  • Assist final candidates in addressing additional financial and credit concerns required for participation in the program
  • Communicate to the Director of Family Services possible concerns selected families may have as homeowners
