Habitat for Humanity Kansas City owns all of the mortgages on the homes we build, but works with an outside company for loan servicing (meaning their company sends the bills and accepts payments on our behalf). In addition to billing statements, escrow management, and customer service for the homeowners, which lifts the administrative burden from Habitat's staff, this outside company offers partner families in Kansas City the choice of making payments by check or automatic bank withdrawal.
